12/13/2023 0 Comments Rivers edge alberton![]() Whoever manages the motel is letting down the rest of the property and keeping it from being a desired destination motel instead of an unpleasant, one time experience for most. The motel part of the River's Edge Resort had such promise but somewhere along the way it got away from them. My only stipulation is that it has to be CLEAN. I like the intimacy, the quirky details, the fun, love and homey decor that some families put into their lodging so that their customers have a good experience. I do often like and choose family owned properties over chain properties. I apologize for the length of this review but I have a lot to say. It's hard for me to review this property because our experiences were very inconsistant. It's a bummer since the area is so pretty.… ![]() I know if you were incredibly tired and needed to stop here, I don't think your will get much sleep unless you had ear plugs. The noise was intolerable, so around 2:00pm in the afternoon, we packed up and got out of there! We didn't even ask for a refund, we just left. All the other campers were gone the next morning when we woke from our sleepless night. There were 4 other people camping in tents and at least 5 other campsites that had RV's in them, so we figured the noise wasn't going to be bad over night. Then a train across the river came by soon after and it was loud and blowing a horn for a road crossing. It was pretty windy when we arrived so we didn't notice the traffic noise as much until later in the day. We thought it was going to be further off the I-90 freeway than it was. Upon seeking this place out, the photos didn't show how close the train or freeway was. The campsites are chosen for you, so we didn't get a choice of where we wanted to camp. We saw some photos and thought the area was pretty, which it was. We booked this place over the phone for a 3 day stay in our travel trailer. Made a huge mistake camping at this location. If you choose to eat at this establishment.… ![]() So please be warned, if you have a food allergy, be very aware of what is prepared for you. What a shame that this is what is happening with the new owners and management. The previous owners, Ray and Shawn, had a great business with great staff. The rest of our party finished our meals and left the restaurant without any other contact or service from the restaurant staff. We stated we had been regular customer for years and the manager said he did not care and asked us to finish and not return. The situation escalated and the manager asked us to leave and not return. The manager just kept repeating that it was a mistake and not intentional. There was no offer to refire the order or apologize for the intentional inclusion of cheese. I again pointed out my severe allergy and advised this was mentioned with our original order multiple times and the server assured it would be done correctly. The manager stated the kitchen did not purposely do this and it was just a mistake. I was very displeased and told the server, who eventually requested we discuss with the manager. It was clear that the error was noticed when my wife’s order was addressed and the chicken macaroni and cheese with orange cheese garnish was flipped over to cover the error, so to not have to refire the entire table order. I started to eat, I saw there was orange cheese mixed in under the chicken and covered with additional white cheese sauce. My macaroni and cheese had several pieces of orange shredded cheese on the edges, but I stated I would pick those out. At least five minutes later our entrees were delivered, and it was clear the food had been sitting for some time as the gravy was congealed and barely warm. My wife indicated it was okay to be served as prepared. Prior to our entrees being delivered, the server asked my wife if gravy on her steak was okay since the kitchen already prepared the order and was not on the side, as requested with the initial order. When the server delivered bread to or table, the orange cheese issue was again mentioned and the server indicated the kitchen was aware. The server indicated she would verbally mention this to the kitchen as well as the written instructions. My wife and another person in our party reiterated the importance of no orange cheese as it could result in an anaphylactic response. I ordered macaroni and cheese with chicken and also advised that the orange cheese garnish be left off as I am highly allergic to the dye in orange cheese. We were a party of 4 with friends who have also been very regular diners. My wife a I have been regular customers for almost 14 years. ![]() Wyndham Grand Cancun All Inclusive Resort & Villas.
